Alice is a 15 year old girl from Ulverston in the UK. She has managed in the last little while to make the news all around the world thanks to a blog she created....and with a little help from celebrity tweeters such as Katy Perry and Justin Bieber.
Unfortunately, Alice has incurable Hodgkin's Lymphoma and her blog is actually a “Bucket List”. Originally a way for her to keep her friends updated and to document the things she wants to do, it has turned into much more than that.
Alice’s blog now has over 13,000 followers and she is inspiring people all around the world to register to donate bone marrow. Some of the things on Alice’s list include, making everyone sign up to be a bone marrow donor, swim with sharks, enter her dog in a show, have a photoshoot with some of her friends and meet Take That.
Alice has had the opportunity to tick several items off her list, including being able to meet Take That. She is however most over the moon with how many people are registering to be bone marrow donors, saying - “the biggest thing has to be all the people who are joining bone marrow donation schemes because of me”.
Here’s a snippet from Alice’s first blog post:
“It's a bit funny me doing a blog because mum has always done these sort of things and I've never really being interested before.
Most of you know that my scan at Alder Hey wasn't very good and that the cancer is now spreading through my body. It's a pain because there's so much stuff that I still want to do. I guess that my particular cancer is made of strong stuff (which is hard because I know I gave it my all and I'm strong and determined too).
Anyway, mum always tells me that life is what we make of it and so I'm going to make the best of what I have and because there were so many things I still wanted to do, mum suggested that I turn my ideas into a bucket list. I've not quite finished it yet, as I keep remembering other bits, so I might add things as I go along.
I'm not expecting to do everything on it. Some of the things are just not going to happen because I can't even leave the country now (I'm too much of a risk), but they're on there, because they were on my 'to do' list at some point. So, I thought it would be fun to have my list online and to tick things off and do a little update on everything I do :) If anyone has suggestions, please let mum or dad know because they don't know how to do all of it yet. They're working on it!”
A lot has happened since that first blog, have a look at Alice’s full Bucket List and check out her progress here:

And remember, if you happen to read anything that makes you upset or worried, make sure you talk to a loved one or someone you trust!
And if you or someone you know is interested in registering to become a bone marrow donor check out the Australian Bone Marrow Donor Registry.
