Pay it Forward Day is exactly what it sounds like. A day dedicated to promoting selfless acts of good will. Instead of receiving payback for a favour, ask the person to pay it forward and help someone else. If you haven’t seen the movie Pay it Forward, it comes highly recommended.
Let’s face it. When you lend someone a hand it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. The good deed doesn’t need to be massive either. It can be as simple as helping your elderly neighbour bring the groceries in from their car.
To kick start your good-deed doing, we’ve made a list of some suggestions of how you can pay if forward:
- Help an elderly neighbour in their garden.
- Offer to help a younger sibling with homework. (They may look at you suspiciously at first but once they realize it’s not a trap they’ll appreciate your help).
- Buy a homeless person breakfast.
- Give your services for free to someone who needs a helping hand.
- Buy a bus ticket for someone who doesn’t have enough change.
- Give a stranger the free coffee on your coffee card.
With all this good-deed doing just don’t forget to ask the person you helped out to pay it forward.
And remember…as corny as it sounds, one person can make a difference and a good way to start is to pay if forward.
