Getting away when you can't travel.

I just read a post on another blog which was titled "Getaways When You're Too Sick or Broke to Travel?".  The author wrote that "There have been many times when I’ve been too sick to travel or could not afford it.  Instead of the luxury of travel, I’d get crafty spending moments around my house or my city that felt like vacations" and posed the question "How do you get a vacation from your life without spending much money or without traveling far?"

So this got me thinking about ways I have 'taken a break' from life.  It's often really simple like losing myself in a good book, or lying on my back by the river watching the clouds, or spending a lazy afternoon in my favourite coffee shop.

What do you do to get away from it?

I don’t do this enough-But I will start to again! Its alla bout taking time our for yourself!

    Painting your toenails!

    Baking

Taking Mini Trips-Like going camping/fishing up the coast...throw the tent in, food and go! Its an easy and cheap way to get away and enjoy your weekend... Or you can even camp in your own backyard.

Picnics with friends! Take a ball, kick it around and enjoy the food!

    Create something- Jewellery/Clothes/Painting/Sculpture/Sketching

Browse-by-shopping...Go to the shops and have a look around to just get your mind off things...I’m in love with looking at homewares/kitchen appliances at the moment...Oh the main point for this is to not spend much money

Markets! Great way to browse, enjoy a coffee and some delicious food!

PEOPLE Watching...Park yourself anywhere and just people watch-its really fascinating.

Thats all I have at the moment...

If you live on the coast, go to a beach you've never been to before. There is no way you've been to all the beaches within an hour's drive...

Also go explore a suburb of your city you've never been to. Do a bit of research first and find a good place to have lunch in that area or a good market/ shop to go to.
