    one thing that helped me while being in hospital (and when i was well enough to use) was having internet access and staying connected through online chat (MSN / facebook)

    you have to remember that alot of people are actually uneasy around hospitals, so maybe chatting prior to them coming in to see you might help them get over that fear and also the fear of seeing their friend really sick, if you try keep a positive attitude and act like the normal you friends will want to visit more and hang out like old times

    Good advice. I think alot of young people find the internet useful while they're in hospital. It's a great way to stay in contact with friends.

    Having a chat to friends before they visit is also a good idea. Friends want to see you but they are often unsure about going to the hospital and may be a bit scared, especially if they've never been before.
