Hi Guys,
I know when my mum was going through treatment etc. i wasn't really sure exactly what her cancer was or what it meant and I had a lot of trouble finding an explanation that i could understand but that wasnt all sugar coated dribble. Are there any good/ reliable sources(other than this site) where anyone has found useful information that is able to be understood by a layperson but still tells you whats actually happening??

- This UK website is really good - www.macmillan.org.uk - and there are some more on the Useful Links page.
Unfortunately, it's pretty hard to find medical information that is understandable without being dumbed down. - I did lots of searching on the internet and couldnt really find any info I liked - i think thats why i like this site. Lots of people just either write too medically, or they really make it too kid-ish. So far I have really liked the pages here about the day-to-day stuff - cause no-one really talks to you about that stuff. It is always more medical but i think they forget that it becomes your whole life too.
- The Leukaemia Foundation puts out a heap of little booklets on all the blood cancers that are out there - these are designed for patients and families so are pretty reader friendly. www.leukaemia.org.au
The cancer council also has a range of booklets and resources. Such as 'food and cancer' and 'emotions and cancer'. They also have a fantastic resource for parents about talking to your children about cancer. www.cancer.org.au
