1. Purpose of Now What

Now What is here to help you connect with other young people living with cancer (YPLWC), as well as to provide you with useful information. We encourage you to use this place to your advantage so you can make contact with other YPLWC all over Australia, however you must agree to the following terms and conditions to register with Now What. Now What is operated by CanTeen, the Australian Organisation for Young People Living with Cancer.

2. Username and Password

You should choose a log-in user name and password that does not identify you in any way to other users of ‘Now What’.

You must not disclose your user name or password to any person. Please take all reasonable measures to ensure that your password and username is secure. Please notify the ‘Now What’ monitor if you become aware that another person has used your user name or password. Once we know this we will deactivate your user name and password and will create you a new one.

3. Behaviour on Now What

This website is not the place to act inappropriately or show behaviours including:

• negativity
• personal abuse including those based on sex, religion, culture, race and sexuality
• posting images or conversations that could be in any way offensive, harmful or hurtful to yourself or others.

If a monitor of Now What become aware that a member may be at risk of harm from another person, or to themselves through suicide or self harm, then they will be required to intervene.

If another member sees evidence of this behaviour whilst they are posting, they are encouraged to report this confidentially to the Now What monitor so that action can be taken to help that member. Contact details to do this are: web.monitor@NowWhat.org.au

4. Giving out personal details

If you are sending messages to people or participating on forums, please do not give out your telephone number or physical address. This includes posting any personal information about a third person. If you are found to be doing so you will be removed from ‘Now What’.

5. Photos

Please do not post any inappropriate photos. Do not post photos of a third party without their permission. You may be liable for defamation if you do.

6. Swearing

Swearing is not permitted in ‘Now What’. If your message contains swear words they will be detected by our explicit language scanner and the message will not be posted. You may also be refused to post messages on ‘Now What’ again.

7. Don't Give Medical Advice

We are encouraging YPLWC to talk to each other and share their experiences through Now What, however we do not want to encourage people to use each other in place of medical and counselling services.
