Tests and Treatments

Feeling tired

Feeling tired and not having your usual 'get up and go' is the most common side effect of chemotherapy.
  • Suddenly, you might just feel like rubbish, and be unable to shake it without getting some rest.
  • Even after treatment ends, tiredness may continue to drag you down.
  • It is frustrating to have to do normal things at a slower pace than usual, but try to be patient and allow yourself the time you need.

Ways to cope with tiredness

  • Eat well and drink plenty of fluids – it’s vital to maintain your energy levels.
  • Don’t do more than you feel you can. Save your energy as much as possible.
  • Try to do some light exercise.
  • Take little cat-naps as often as possible.
  • Let other people help you! There’s nothing wrong with accepting a helping hand…and you might as well take advantage while they’re offering!
