Cognitive changes (a.k.a chemo brain)
Cognitive changes are problems with thinking, memory and behaviour. -
Feeling tired
Feeling tired and not having your usual 'get up and go' is the most common side effect of chemotherapy. -
Hair Loss
Some chemo drugs and local radiotherapy treatments stop hair being produced. It's the most obvious side effect, so it's probably the thing that most people worry about. -
Mouth and swallowing problems
Many people experience a sore mouth or some problems swallowing food as a result of treatment. -
Nausea and vomiting
Not everyone feels sick or nauseous with their treatment, but many do. If nausea does occur, it usually happens a few hours after chemotherapy – and unfortunately it can last for quite a few hours. -
Weight gain or loss
Cancer and treatments can often have an impact on weight. The changes are often quite small, but sometimes people put on, or lose, a lot of weight, which can be quite hard to deal with. -
