Audiogram
An audiogram is a test which evaluates your hearing. If your treatment plan includes the drug cisplatinum, you will probably have a number of audiograms, as hearing loss one of its possible side effects. -
Biopsy
A biopsy is a surgical procedure used to determine whether a tumour is benign or cancerous. -
Blood tests
Blood tests help diagnose cancer and can sometimes be the first indicators of disease. They’re used to track the progression of disease, and to help doctors make decisions about treatment. -
Bone marrow biopsy and aspiration
A bone marrow biopsy is an extremely important test which can accurately diagnose some types of cancer, and help track the progress of your treatment. -
CT scan
A CT Scan (also known as a CAT scan) takes a series of x-rays that build up a three-dimensional, very detailed image of your body. -
Lumbar puncture
A lumbar puncture (also called a spinal tap)may be used to diagnose cancer, as well as treat it. -
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a non-invasive procedure using magnetism and radio waves to provide detailed images of your body and its soft tissue structures. -
Mammogram
A mammogram is a low-dose x-ray of the breast tissue. Mammograms can detect changes in the breast tissue before they develop into a lump large enough to be felt. -
Pap Test
A pap test or pap smear is used to detect changes in the cervix. -
Pulmonary Function Test
A pulmonary function test measures how well your lungs work. -
Ultrasound
Ultrasound scans are images of your internal organs created by using sound waves. -
X-rays
X-rays are a form of electromagnetic radiation, just like visible light. The use of x-rays is called radiography. -
Bone scans
This is a more sensitive test than the simple x-ray and can show abnormalities long before they show up in other tests. -
Electrocardiogram (ECG)
Your heart generates electrical impulses, causing it to beat or contract. The electrocardiogram (ECG) records these rhythms and electrical impulses through 10 electrodes that are placed on your chest, arms and legs. -
Neurological tests
A neurological examination assesses motor (movement) and sensory (ability to feel, see and sense items in the patients environment) skills.
