Bone Marrow Transplant
A Bone Marrow Transplant(BMT) involves transfusing healthy bone marrow to replace bone marrow destroyed by high doses of chemotherapy. -
Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy, or 'chemo', is the most common form of cancer treatment. Chemo uses drugs called cytotoxics to kill or slow the growth of cancer cells. -
Stem cell transplant
A stem cell transplant involves taking your stem cells, or a donors, and after some high dose chemotherapy, returning them to your body to form new stem cells. -
Surgery
Surgery usually involves tissue being removed under anaesthetic. Tumours are one of the most common type of cancers, and surgery is often required to remove them. -
Complementary and alternative therapy
Most of the treatments listed on this site are conventional cancer treatments, which are widely accepted and practised by the mainstream medical community. -
Hormone therapy
Hormonal therapies act by altering the production of particular hormones in the body. They are most commonly used to treat breast cancer and prostate cancer. -
Radiotherapy
Many people with cancer will have radiotherapy as part of their treatment. -
Steroid treatment
We're not talking about the illegal, anabolic type that bodybuilders use, we're talking about the kind used in cancer treatment – synthetic derivatives of the natural steroid cortisol.
