Diagnosed at 3
I have lost a lot of friends to cancer as they were the only close friends I had.
When it came to fighting cancer, I had a hard time with finding friends that would help and support me! I think if my friends had known and understood things more I think they would have looked after me more and been there for me more then they were. I hated having cancer.
"Everyone would treat you differently because you have cancer."
I find it really hard talking to friends about cancer because it’s really difficult for them to understand what I was going through. I always thought that people would understand everything until I had cancer.
"For me I love doing sport"
so I would always turn to sport and have a good game of netball or go for a run when life was too hard for me.
The advice I would give to someone who had just been diagnosed with cancer is: Stand tall and don’t let it win. Never give up and it’s your fight to take on, but never stand alone.
"Cancer is 1 thing but living beyond it is another."
You just have to stand tall and always think positive. Never give in if you have cancer. Being called cancer free is so cool!!!! It's one thing that I never thought would come true. I always dreamed about being cancer free and now I am, it's so cool. It's the best thing being able to say to someone that you have lived thorugh the pain, the ups and downs, and come out a true hero.
For me, telling my story is the best thing. It opens peoples eyes to what us as cancer patients have gone through. It's such a cool thing.
