I overheard 'cancer'

I overheard 'cancer'
It was on my seventh birthday when I discovered something was wrong. I walked into the living room and saw my mother and father crying. They hadn’t seen me. I overheard the word 'cancer'several times.

I made the connection. It was the worst birthday present ever.

I go to a private school so I kept it all inside. Until a teacher one day told my class. The kids made fun of it, so I withdrew myself from everyone for around 10 months.

The scariest moment during my cancer journey was when my friends betrayed me. But I guess everything happens for a reason so if my friends didn’t do that, I wouldn’t be the great person I am today.

The best thing I find to help me stay positive is to exercise regularly. I always feel better afterwards. I believe that everything happens for a reason, you just have to see the lesson in it.

One thing I wish that I knew at the beginning of all of this is that everything can be good again.
