It was tough at school

It was tough at school
Mum had breast cancer when I was 3 years old and I don’t really remember it. When I was 10, dad had bowel cancer.

I remember being very emotional. It was very tough at school. I cried every time dad went and got chemo.

2 years later, I’m now 12 and mum says she wants to talk to us. “I have something to tell you,” she said. I said, “You have cancer again.” She said yes, and we all started crying. You never see my dad cry, but he did that day and it made me even more emotional.

"Mum has been receiving chemo every 3 weeks"

in Sydney and because it’s in Sydney, she comes back a day after and leaves 2-3 days before. We pray and think of her while she’s away.

Dad needs to drive mum so someone needs to look after us. When mum is home she can help us with very little and dads at work all day, every day so Nicola helps me with my homework and I help Zack with his.

I hate that mum needs surgery again.
